ABOUT

Well, this page's title is about, but about what? About me? About this project? About Music? I think I've to say something about me and this project :)

I was born in the 1971 so you can have an idea of my age, and my first encounter with a pc was at school with an Olivetti M24, It was very fun to program my first routines with the included basic (if I remember well the basic was gwbasic, but I'm not sure); it was based on a 8086 processor, 8MHz, with a 640x400 display... but what I remember well was the green dot screen I was facing during the programming lessons :)

During the school a friend of mine showed me a wonderful game-machine and I was very impressed: it was the Commodore 64.

I bought that machine, and I was very happy with games, unless one day the game I was playing crashed and I was able to see the code: the game was developed using a language called Simon's basic. All was started there, programming with this wonderful basic, coding with PEEK and POKE, and starting to create, not just play!

After the glorious C64 I had an Amiga 500, an Amiga 1200 and finally a PC. Very sad. Here I don't want to say anything about M$ and its pruducts, what is better and what is worse the fact is that if I want to work I have to use a PC, and that's all. Since my first job I had to work with same sort of databases ranging from the oldest DBIII to the most recent that I've used MS Access, and I "feel" in the air that is time to learn something about Oracle.

Last year I've noticed that the Amiga scene was very hot due to the imminent release of the OS4 and the new hardware where it should be run and the case let me surf to the AROS home page. After understanding that AROS was one of the last chances to implement an Amiga OS like system, I have decided to give my contribute developing something. However my programming knowledge was almost useless, because I remember very few things about Amiga, and I don't know C so I've chosen LUA to do the job, a very flexible scripting language.

I've got the idea of developing a database engine because I need it in another project that I was working on since 2000, and maybe I will never finish due to its complexity, but everyone has its own dreams!! :)

The SDB Enigine's Project has started in April 2005.
